About Us
Women's cricket in South Africa was strong in the 1970's and 80's, but the game, and the Association governing it, had become defunct. It was the foresight and commitment of the United Cricket Board of South Africa that sparked a resurgence of Women's cricket.

The UCBSA ran a successful inaugural Women's/Girls' Tournament from 10 to 16 December 1995, and on Saturday 16 December 1995, during that Tournament, it was resolved that the current South Africa Women's Cricket Association be formed.

The Founding Member Provinces of the new Association were Natal, Northern Transvaal (now Northerns), Transvaal (now Gauteng) and Western Province, represented by Colleen Roberts, Peter Van Zyl, Charmaine Van Zyl, Judie Abell (Natal), Katrien Van Rooyen, Russell Wilson (N Tvl), W H Skog (Tvl), Rodney Austen, and Kim Price (WP).

The first Executive of the SAWCA elected by the Delegates of the above Provinces, for a period of four (4) years were:
Conrad Hunte (UCBSA) - President, Colleen Roberts (Natal) - Vice President, Shan Cade (Tvl) - Secretary, Rodney Austen (WP) - Treasurer
